For Junior Academy Players

South Hobart FC Values Awards

Celebrating Positive Behaviours in our junior Academy players

At SHFC Academy, we believe in nurturing not just skills, but also core values that contribute to the holistic development of our players. In line with this philosophy, we are proud to introduce the South Hobart FC Academy Values Awards.

Why Values Awards?

The Values Awards align with our unique 5-week learning cycle, where each week is dedicated to both a core football skill and a core value. This approach ensures that our players are consistently developing their technical abilities while also embodying values crucial to their personal growth and team cohesion.

For example, during a week where 'Striking the Ball' is the skill focus, 'Respect' becomes the core value focus.

Recognition through Values Awards

To acknowledge and celebrate the embodiment of these values, a player will be awarded a Values Award at the beginning of each session.  These cards, reminiscent of the traditional red and yellow cards in football, serve a more uplifting purpose. They recognize and honour players who have meaningfully demonstrated the value of the week.

The Purpose of These Awards

The Values Awards are more than just accolades; they serve several key purposes:

  • Recognising positive behaviour: Highlighting actions that align with our core values.

  • Improving player engagement: Encouraging players to be more involved and attentive.

  • Increasing player effort: Motivating players to put in their best effort, both in training and matches.

  • Fostering a sense of belonging: Helping players feel more connected to the team and the academy.
